The students here come from a rough area. Our school is surrounded by a huge fence and we have a police officer on campus at all times. But, the kids are resilient and they still come to school to learn. We are a low-income school, so most of the kids (71%!) are on the reduced lunch program and have very little money to do anything. I love to teach classes that the students' enjoy is not only giving them the opportunity that lots of other kids regularly have, but also giving them some time to get away from their worries on campus, in the city, and at home. I would love to help continue helping them with this.
