Help me give my students new and updated young adult literature books including numerous African American YA literature and a reading corner.
My students will be continuing their campaign this year promoting the latest young adult literature school-wide. With access to an updated library, I have compiled a list of YA books to purchase based on the top books rated by readers on Goodreads, public library pamphlets, former student recommendations, and student recommendations.
My students read the books in my classroom and create Book Talks using visual aid programs on the computer such as PPT or Slides. They will present them to various classes and to their own classmates as a book advertisement to encourage them to read diverse books. I am requesting a wide variety of books of various genres for my class library especially African American authors.
Additionally, I am requesting more floor bean bag chairs and a floor reading lamp to set up another reading area for the students to lounge and read comfortably when they finish their work or during our SSR time as even an extrinsic reward. I can allow different groups to use the reading area each class period. I have an amazing collection of books that keeps growing with the new books and these items. They enjoy the current lounge with four chairs and want to add another reading area for another group to read in on a daily basis.
The students can become the best teachers and advocates for literature promoting books across campus in their Book Talks which have been advertising books across campus for several years.
