It's no secret that Western Washington receives LOTS of rain! We don't want that to be a reason for children to miss out on essential outdoor activities. Outside time provides the space and equipment for large motor development, a less structured setting for social/emotional development, and an appreciation and connection to nature and our environment. But many children arrive at school unprepared for the wet and muddy conditions of our region. My project is meant to provide a set of rain boots and coats for the children to use at school so we can ALWAYS go outside to learn, explore, and create exciting experiences. Children only learn to be reluctant of the conditions outside when adults set the example. They don't care about the conditions, so let's give them the proper equipment to keep them dry and healthy!
