I teach 5th grade at an inner-city public elementary school on the south side of Chicago. I have an amazing group of students! After a hard day's work, we often go out to the parking lot to relax and get some exercise. One of their favorite things to do is race against each other. Finally, a few weeks ago, I couldn't help myself and started racing with my students. They were shocked to see their teacher run, but they were even more shocked that I was fast! Last weekend I ran Chicago's famous Shamrock Shuffle 8K race. While I was running, I thought about how amazing it would be if I could share this experience with my students.
