Teaching English Language Learners is always challenging in itself,but not having resources they need is even harder. I work in a first grade classroom for children who are English Language Learners and some also have a variety of special education services provided to them. Many of my students come to school every day without a warm breakfast or their homework checked daily by mom or dad because they are already out at work or just don't understand.The communication between mom and dad is limited because they no longer speak their native languages their parents are speaking.Daily discussion is missing in their lives. I need to give them the time to discuss and share what they read and learn in school daily in the classroom.My students are adorable and loving children who inspire me to be a better teacher. They have given me the spark in my HEART and MIND to create effective lessons that bridge the gaps in their worlds so they feel success in and out of the classroom.
