My student attend a small public school in Washington. Most do not speak English as their first language. They come from Mexico, the Philippine, Gabon, Somalia, Laos, Vietnam, Saipan, Samoa and many other places. They all chose our small school because they are serious about learning and community. Many of my students have not had the hands on experiences with science that come from visiting museums or attending summer camps. I try to provide these in the classroom but of course we have limited materials and budgets.
