My students come from a low to middle class background. I have many students who do not qualify for Special Education, but need extra help in learning the basics. They work hard every day. We try to look at new material from a variety of teaching/learning styles. The biggest need amongst my students is reading skills. It is difficult to complete assignments in Social Studies if you can not read. Many of the students just need simple aides to help them better understand. Having an opportunity to listen to the text while reading it can make a world of difference to some students' comprehension. Most of my troubled readers learn better aurally and visually. Trying to differentiate the learning for my students requires me to work with groups of students while others work on their own. Having tools to help the students complete their work would boost student confidence and grades!
