My students are part of our Dual Language program, which has been growing really fast for the past 5 years. The best thing about this group of students is that they are so diverse and are so willing to learn about and from others. They come from various backgrounds, live in different neighboring cities in Arizona and are just so accepting. Not only are they expected to learn what a "traditional" 1st grader needs to learn, but also learn a new language at the same time! Some of them come from Spanish speaking homes which makes them experts in our classroom (and they love it!). Other students are still learning the letter names in Spanish and are gaining the courage to speak their first Spanish words. They are so eager to learn new things and to explore the world around them. The best thing about my students is that they are learning how to be accepting of other languages, c
