I teach in an economically disadvantaged area that has lost over 3,000 jobs in the past five years. At our school, 79% of the students receive free and reduced price lunch. Our school has little or no parent support at all. The children don't have many life experiences with traveling anywhere outside the county where they live. Many of them come to school hungry. Despite their daily hardships, its my job to make them feel safe and happy at school. Our school budget is very limited and continues to worsen each year so I am hoping that my project will get fully funded through DonorsChoose so I can receive all the materials I need for my students to achieve excellence!
