Since beginning our new school year, teachers have been required to attend professional development focused on phonics instruction. This has been very valuable information but we have very limited resources and tools to work with. This is where some much-needed funding comes into play. Being able to implement this new instruction into my one-on-one, small group, and whole group instruction is going to be key to my student's success. Access to online resources and tools would allow my students to manipulate sounds and words, practice fluency in their decoding, as well as fluency in their overall reading. Being able to use an iPad for these kinds of activities would prove to be the most efficient use of our time. Having an iPad would also allow for more effective instruction on my part, being able to maneuver between students and differentiated instruction techniques.
