"Studies have found that a minimum of five books per child is necessary to provide even the most basic print-rich environment). Digital media such as e-books should also be available to provide alternative, engaging, enriching literacy experiences." (International Literacy Association, 2018) I'm requesting a listening center and Listen, Read & Rhyme with Dr. Seuss and Sing-Along Read-Along Classics sets. By adding an audiobook learning center to our classroom, all of my students can listen to books while developing their pre-literacy skills, regardless of their various abilities. My students love being read to. This audiobook center will promote independence while accessing a print-rich environment. "Creating discovery areas for children to explore their understandings, with attractive stories and information books, help children to integrate play and print." (International Literacy Association, 2018)
