The classroom carpet - it is where the school day begins. So much of our learning starts there: morning meeting, shared reading, whole group math, literacy stations, partner reading, etc. Not only is the classroom carpet an integral part of the student’s school day, but also, it is a space where building a classroom community begins. It is a gathering space, a purposeful learning environment, that helps develop familiar routines, provides collaborative experiences and offers flexible seating. The specific rug chosen for this project also provides an opportunity for sensory explorations of block and cursive letters to facilitate students’ handwriting development. The product selected will provide a comfortable flexible seating area for student instruction. Increased student learning is a byproduct of a comfortable and engaging learning environment. Please consider funding this project.
