As another summer winds down, I will meet my students for the first time in a couple of weeks. I am really excited to teach students who are high academic achievers and pass along to them my love of the Spanish language. We are a large high school in Philadelphia with a history of high academic performance. Unfortunately, our school lacks many basic resources due to years of budget cuts and shortfalls in our district. I have my own classroom that I share with other teachers because we have more teachers than rooms available. I try to make my classroom as inviting as possible with a lot of Spanish input. My students and I will have air conditioning for the first time ever this school year. Everyone is extremely excited about the new air units, and student involvement will increase during super hot days since students won't be drained from the heat.
