My students are a mix of Ethnic groups, mostly Hispanic. Many of their parents work two jobs just to put food on the table. Therefore, many of these students have not had varied experiences in the art world, such as seeing a live theatrical show, playing an instrument, or using a variety of art mediums. My goal is to introduce them to as many artistic interests and to find their strengths: whether it is working with their hands or using their voices to send a message. Maybe they will show their talent in their writing or acting ability. I want them to see many options in their possible working futures.
