Picture my class of 10-11 year old students going away from home for 4 nights at outdoor school/camp. For most it will be their first time away from home. Our exciting adventures include environmental studies and confidence building cooperative activities. I would like my students to have sketch books, watercolor pencils, and magnifying lenses to study and record their learning. We will be traveling with almost all of our school's 5th graders (73), parent chaperones, and two teachers, myself included. We are a Title I school (53% of students on free and reduced breakfast and lunch) with approximately 530 students grades K-6. We also house many of our district's special ed. programs, such as behavior disordered, life skills, and resource rooms. These students are mainstreamed into basic education classes.
