My seventh grade students exhibit a budding passion for reading, but need concrete encouragement to choose challenging texts. Each day in our classroom we have time for independent reading to help with students vocabulary and grammar skills. As the students do not have a school library, they are limited to the texts that I have purchased or that have been donated to the classroom. They are inquisitive, passionate, and find the greatest pleasure in sorting through books that are new to the classroom library. Their favorite genres are mystery, action adventure, poetry, and horror.
