The students involved in the show choir program are definitely from a blue-collar hard-working community. Parents work two jobs, not a lot of money -- that sort of thing. Students are eager, talented and very willing to practice hard. They give of their time, talents and ability to the program daily. They are like a family. The choir is a second home to most of them. For many of them, it gives them a purpose to go to school -- to FINISH school and graduate. They fund-raise constantly just to be able to go to festivals and competitions. Every time they go, a bus costs us a great deal of money -- WHICH THEY PAY FOR THEMSELVES. Not the district! They also pay for their own uniforms.
