The middle school that I have the honor of working at is located in a lower socioeconomic area that is fairly homogeneous. Many of the students that I work with don't have a television or computer, much less access to any world news. Our Global World is an exciting new elective at our school that allows the students to explore all of the wonders of our modern and ancient world.
