Beginning last year, our school was rocked by a huge increase in behavioral issues, especially evident in my 2nd grade classroom. My plan for this coming school year is to help my lower-achieving students find success alongside their classmates by consistently implementing the "do your work and then you can play" routine. I am asking for new STEM building materials to make Activity Time more enticing so that more of my class will demonstrate desired learning behaviors. If my Activity Time is more STEM-based, it can also serve as an "Academic Choice Time" at the end of our day (at the end of math time). I have also asked for bins with lids since some of the STEM items I asked for do not come in a sturdy container. I prefer the bins with lids so that they can be visually motivating from a distance but not readily accessible until Activity Time.
