Throughout this year, I have implemented a program specifically designed to meet the needs of the many students at my school who have Dysgraphia or exhibit dysgraphic tendencies. While the widespread idea of Dyslexia as a disorder that causes people to write letters backward or upside-down is partially true, what few people realize is that Dysgraphia affects brain processing in many different areas, including reading, spelling and informational or auditory processing difficulties. Writing is a daily challenge for my students as they often tend to slow down or get "stuck" with the details of writing and then they lose the thoughts that they are trying to write about.
