The students are inner city youth. They have been removed from their regular high schools and placed into an alternative high school, due to a variety of reasons. These students all have the capacity to learn and be successful, but lack the drive and motivation. We have created a number of incentive programs to get them back on track, including the basketball team. Students are required to meet a criteria for grades, behavior and attendance in order to participate on the team. Many students have improved in all areas because of their motivation to participate.

About my class
