Students who enroll in our urban Maryland school choose a creative atmosphere for their learning and personal growth. When they come to us as newly admitted 6th or 9th graders, students are guided into an arts track that they will follow until graduation. Our students love art and want to make it a part of their lives, but their passion for the arts does not assume previous experience or privilege. Our school faces the same budgetary problems that many city schools face, but we know our students are worth every penny and every bit of extra effort it takes to provide them with quality experiences. For our Intro to Photography class, that means we want every student to have access to very basic but quality cameras. Sketching, planning, and conceptualizing are all part of the creative process, but experience with actual cameras both in and out of class is vital!
