My students attend an inner city high school in NY. They come from lower income families and many are immigrants from Latin America and Africa. They are learning English while trying to obtain a diploma and often have interrupted education. The disabilities in my classroom include blindness, cognitive deficits, hearing impairment, and learning disabilities. Despite their challenges they demonstrate a healthy curiosity about the world and how it works. Hands-on scientific experiences fully engage their interest.
