Our school is lacking funding therefore has much less technology than nearby schools. Although it is possible to teach without technology, it is much more efficient and aids student success when advanced technology is available. Technology is especially helpful when students are new to the US and English isn't their first language because it offers a visual avenue to scientific knowledge. My students are extremely bright inquirers. They work hard on labs each week and actively explore the scientific process. I remember one day vividly when students were jumping out of their seats calling, "I have a hypothesis! I have a hypothesis!" They are very excited to do more science, but they need more guidance in how to record their methods, data, and procedures. These skills are extremely important if my students are to become career scientists (which I sincerely believe some of them will) so that future researchers can replicate their work.
