The students at our school are economically disadvantaged. Over 70% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. The school is rural with only 440 students. It is my first year as the school librarian, and I was shocked at the state of the library. The environment was not conducive to learning, and the book selection is outdated. Even a small school like ours deserves a library with lots of interesting and contemporary fiction books.
