My students attend a highly ethnically diverse inner city school in Illinois. 60% of students are low income and 19% of students are limited English proficient. Parents and teachers want all children to succeed and the key to that is creating a classroom environment where all students can learn and their educational needs are met. Although students are highly dedicated and love coming to school each day, there is a need for increased technology at our school. Students love taking part in learning centers but due to recent budget cuts, there are no funds set aside to provide students with a listening center. Teachers work tirelessly to provide students with varied classroom experiences to meet the needs of all learning modalities. Parents and students perceive that their teachers believe in them and know how to reach each and every child. But along with that comes the responsibility of ensuring that the materials needed to reach each child are available.
