Our students are like most who live only in the world around them. Most have never been outside of the city or county limits and the news reported on TV seems like a fairy tale because it doesn't happen in their own backyard. These fifth grade students are approaching a pivotal point in their life where they leave the elementary nest and go on to face the issues of not only themselves but those of people with similar and sometimes different backgrounds then themselves.
