My 4th graders are an exciting bunch. They come to me from all over the world; Bangladesh to Brazil, Cape Verde to Qatar. We're like a mini-United Nations. Many of the children have had positive schooling experiences in their home countries while others have not been as fortunate. In addition to these children needing to learn English and the 4th grade curriculum, many of them are below grade level by many years and need to catch up. Sometimes it feels like a race where the finish line keeps moving further away. Our school is in a large city in Massachusetts. Unfortunately, we don't have the funding that we'd like to purchase the materials we need.
