My classroom consist of 7 students, predominantly diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder , Intellectual Disorder, PICA Disorder, Emotional Disorder and Speech and Language Impairment Disorders. I use Individual Token Reinforcement Boards, as well as visual schedules and timers throughout our day. My classroom entails a similar approach as to a TEACCH format, with modifications to fit my class. I have 2 teaching assistants and all students receive at least 2 therapy services of Speech and Land Language Therapy , Occupational Therapy , Physical Therapy, Vision Therapy and a few require nursing services each day. We work on an adapted curriculum, but also life skills, vocational skills and functional skills. Teaching our students to get to their highest potential and to get them as independent in life as we can, is our goal … all through academics and through their therapies.
