The curious, confident, and courageous third graders in my classroom are on a mission! They are determined to become the leading pediatricians, video gaming engineers, teachers, armed services medical professionals, and politicians of tomorrow! These kiddos have big goals and even bigger determination. After researching role models in their fields, each student discovered that a key to their future success would be becoming engaged and frequent readers! At our Title I school though, many students are not coming from literature-rich environments, nor do they frequently access books or libraries. But they are determined to change that. They wrote their own proposal letters to the school about what would make an engaging reading environment. "Like Starbucks or Chuck.E.Cheese" was the description of the comfortable and inviting lounge they'd wish to read in. Help make their dreams come true!
