I teach art in a K-5 Magnet School. I see every student in the building for 45 minutes a week. Knowing that some of our students crave even more opportunities to express themselves visually than they have in class, I offer an afterschool art club as well. This year I have added the opportunity for some of our 5th Graders to help with yearbook. As the adviser, I have taken most of the pictures that appear with my own personal camera or had to beg, cajole, and plead with classroom teachers and parents to help out. I hope this year to transform a selected group of 5th grade students into "expert" photographers...as soon as we have cameras!
