This is my seventh year teacher social studies at a large public high school near Washington, DC. The vast majority of my students are African-American. Most are raised by single mothers, and most are poor enough to qualify for a free breakfast and lunch. My smallest class is 32 students, and my largest is 39. I am passionate about my job, and work 50-60 hours per week. The lack of basic material resources- to say nothing of up-to-date technology- is a constant hindrance.
