As I enter into my fifth year of teaching in the inner-city it has become very evident how important teachers are in my students lives. I can't even begin to tell you how much I have learned every year; just as the students learn from me, I learn from them. In order to close the achievement gap I need my students to at least make 1.5 years growth in one year, which means very focused, purposeful, and targeted instruction. In order to best meet the needs of all of my students I am requesting the resources in order to help them succeed. My students face many challenges out of the classroom, many situations that none of us can even imagine. When my students come to school everyday I want them to feel like this is their home, and I want to give them any and every resource I can provide to them in order to better their education.
