Our class contains 6 ability levels in one! We are a 6th grade inclusive class that has students of varying ability levels (1st-6th grade). We have moderately and mildly mentally handicapped students, low and high-ability students with special needs, on level and advanced (GT) general education students; One can only imagine the challenges we face while trying to receive quality education at our individual ability levels, in one classroom, with one teacher. In addition to being in a unique educational environment, our classroom is located in a public school that sits in the heart of an urban high needs community. It is very common for us to look out of our home and classroom windows and see dilapidated buildings, poverty, violence, drugs, and prostitution. Despite the obstacles we face every day, we still manage to be one of the most wonderfully behaved and respectful classrooms in our building.
