We work in a school that is 3rd through 5th grade. We teach 3rd grade and have about a 22:1 ratio. For several years, we have been building a folktale and fairy tale unit to keep traditional literature alive. We (the 3rd grade teachers) work to create a culminating event called the “Story Land Ball” each fall. Students learn to dance the waltz, participate in readings of traditional literature as well as hands-on crafts (such as magic wands and fairy tale mirror). The Fairy Tale and Folktale Problem Solving STEM kits would be a fantastic addition to our unit of study.
