I am currently working with students from kindergarten to fifth grade with learning disabilities. Many of these students struggle with reading and math concepts. They attend a decent school in California with good test scores, which means they are constantly compared to those who are on grade level. My students want to do well and try really hard. It just takes my students longer to grasp some concepts presented to them. Because of their disabilities many of them can be behavior problems when in their general education classroom. I give them the opportunity to work at their own speed and on material that they can excel at. The overwhelming feeling of school is something I try really hard to reduce in the students I teach.
