In the past I have had students complete review packets first thing in the morning, but I've come to rethink how effective and engaging they are. This year I want to create soft mornings in my classroom. First thing in the morning students will come in and choose a STEM activity that they can work on with a partner or a small group. They will do this while we take care of morning business, like attendance, lunch count and listening to morning announcements from the principal. I think this will be a great way to get the students engaged with brains turned on and ready for learning!
