Our students are from a community where about 35% of the people live at or below the poverty level. Many of our students have several siblings, and parents do not always have steady income. All of our students receive free lunch in our public schools. Only 15% of the population has a college degree. Despite this, our students crave the opportunity to learn and compete in academic events that will further their opportunities to attend college and achieve their life goals. Our students continually look forward to being able to interact with individuals from within and outside of their community. They are dedicated to speech and debate and work hard individually and as a team to further the success of every person.
