Imagine a science lesson about weather *out there* in the elements themselves. Or a math lesson graphing different trees on our playground. Or quiet reading with the birds and the breeze as a soundtrack in the background. With my pop-up instant outdoor classroom, I can achieve these anytime the weather is right! The lessons will become more real and memorable, and spending time out in nature will have added benefits for my students' well-being. For years now I have dreamed of taking my class outside for lessons and experiences. I tried some benches outside our library but the A/C units were too loud. I've tried sitting on concrete walkways, but all the kids don't necessarily fit. And we might be too close to another classroom's windows. And then, there are the crawly critters that inevitably come around. There is this beautiful hidden garden near our cafeteria that I just know is the place for fairy tales to come to life! I am so excited to picture my class nestling in among the flowers and trees to listen to fantasies of other times and places. This will all be possible when we all simply have a comfy spot to sit and relax. Thank you for this opportunity to extend the reach of my classroom to the great outdoors!
