My students attend a rural, high-poverty, K-5 school in Colorado. We, as educators, have tried to keep the strain of huge budget cuts from being too noticeable for them, but it has become clear that we just cannot afford some of the resources we need. The families in our community are struggling, as many are, in this economy, and cannot afford to help much with classroom supplies. These kids deserve a fair chance too and shouldn't have to pile all their supplies in a messy crate, shared between four students, or have their supplies on the table, which wastes space.

About my class
