My students are 7th and 8th graders identified with significant learning differences in Language Arts who will receive research-based instruction from me in a small group setting (maximum of 12 students in each group) due to their reading abilities and need for intense, direct instruction. Two groups of students will be formed based on reading levels and processing speed to further permit differentiated instruction on a group and individual basis. One group will consist of students whose processing speeds are very low and whose reading abilities are in a Reading Grade Level Equivalent range of 3.0 to 3.9. The other group will consist of students whose processing speeds are low and whose reading abilities are in a Reading Grade Level Equivalent range of 4.0 to 4.9. Note as well that approximately 65% of the students in my school receive free or reduced lunch.
