Alief Independent School District, located in urban southwest Houston, TX, serves 45,000 PK-12 students across 46 campuses. Alief is among the most culturally diverse school districts in the state, with a student population that is 57% Hispanic, 27% African American, 11% Asian, and 4% White. More than 80 languages and dialects are spoken by students and families. The district boasts many successful programs and student successes despite having a traditionally underrepresented student body that is 84% economically disadvantaged, 83% at-risk, and 45% English language learner.
