Though these materials will not directly teach my students anything; however, they are essential for most labs. With a few more hot plates and balances, we can participate in new and more engaging labs without the expense of valuable class time fighting over the one working balance or hot plate. A specific example of a lab that this project will allow us to perform is a distillation lab of soda which needs hot plates to boil liquid mixtures. Other topics include but are not limited to stoichiometry, physical and chemical changes, conservation of matter, specific heat and energy transfer, solubility, kinetics, and chemical reactions. Your donations with improve lab techniques, save time, and allow for the possibility of more meaningful labs in the future for these bright students. For a small school like ours, it is hard to find enough money for bigger ticketed items. With your help, we can give these students the experiences needed to be competitive in science and pursue their dreams.
