My students are amazing! They come to school and push themselves and each other to learn more and be better people. Even though there is a good number of my students who have hard home lives, they still show up ready to learn. I see a lot of equity issues that come up when providing a free public education. Just because my students do not come from families that can provide all the school supplies they need does not mean they have to go without them. We should be providing classroom supplies in school, but unfortunately budget cuts make that hard to do. I want to make sure that my students have the supplies they need to be successful. I try to make my classroom a place that is a positive constant in their life. I don't want them to worry about not having the supplies to learn. I want to provide everything that they need to continue their education as well as have their basic human needs met.
