Our students are on a software that is complex and encompasses video along with quizzes and tests that cover a range of subjects including: Algebra 1, Geometry, Chemistry, Geography, and US Government. There are over 120 courses within this software and our students need a computer that works well, not only so they don’t get discouraged but also so they can be successful. The climate of the Mastery Learning Lab is essential to our students’ emotional well-being. According to Dr. Eric Jensen, one of the most important factors affecting student engagement and achievement is class climate (Jensen, 2013). Taking responsibility for a new computer system will provide our students with not only the required coursework needed for graduating high school, but also motivate them and level the playing field with peers.
