I believe our children are our future leaders. Our district is a unique one, with 29,000 students most attend private schools. The 9,000 that are attending public schools are being denied a fair and equal education. Every year, more and more opportunities are being taken away. Many of my students are English language learners from countries such as; Haiti, Guatemala and Dominican Republic. Many come to this country not speaking a word of English. Those that are, are reading way below grade level. The school library is outdated, underfunded and under utilized. It lacks updated technology, books, supplies, and flexible seating that supports 21st century learning. The school library should be the hub of the school. Students should want to be in the library because it is warm and inviting. Help me bring my library alive!
