I teach sixth grade to a wonderful group of students in a high-need school within a high-need school district. Seventy-five percent of my students are English Language Learners who are now proficient, but due to limited financial resources, the majority come from homes where their parents are unable to provide much more than the basic living necessities (such as reading-for-pleasure books). They are so enthusiastic about learning and experiencing what school has to offer, but are limited to what they are able to experience in the classroom due to a very limited budget both at home and at school.

About my class
