As a science teacher, my goal is to encourage our students to push themselves to succeed in science and to ultimately graduate from a 4-year college. To achieve this goal, I involve students in practical, hands-on science activities that engage students in cooperative learning and develop both their observational and analytical thinking skills. One of the biggest challenges our program faces is to create a hands-on science program with the limited funding provided by our district, especially when most of this funding is quickly depleted by the purchase of consumables for current labs that we use each year. In order to expand our repertoire of interactive activities, we are reaching out to Donors Choose to help supplement and grow our program. The generous donations provided will allow our school to create even more opportunities for students to participate in the learning process rather than be a spectator.
