My school is a located in a small city within CT. It is a K-5 elementary school that has a very diverse population of students whose families range from poverty level to middle class. The demand for technology in schools, as well as teaching technology to our students, is becoming more and more prevalent and will soon be mandatory with the new Common Core Standards. Many of my children do not have the means or parental support to purchase or utilize computers at home. This is now our responsibility as educators to create these opportunities for our students and to expose them to different types of technology in the classroom to help foster and enrich their education. Our district's budget is currently not able to support these technological advances and we are very behind compared to neighboring towns. I would love provide my students the experience all of the learning apps and tools that an iPad offers. It will enrich their learning experience far beyond what they are used to.
