My students hail from a school in high poverty - 100% of them receive free lunch and spend their weekends waiting to come back to school for a meal. Even though they face obstacles when it comes to basic needs, they have internalized the need to get a quality education, even at the age of 6. My students beg to be tested on objectives, often asking if we can learn more throughout the day! They are bright, inquisitive and extremely caring children that deserve more than basic materials. At this time, they are learning math and literacy skills by memorization instead of interaction.

About my class
